One of the great things about this class was all the samples Peter Follansbee brought with him. He encouraged all of us to take as many photos as we wanted, so…I obliged. I used my Ashahi SMC macro on some, my Meyer-Optik Gorliz Pentacon wide-angle on others, all taken with my Pentax K-5 IIs DSLR.

/ February 11, 2014Great carving! And great photos. Love my K-5 (and the K10d before it), and those fabulous Pentax prime lenses old and new. Though I wish the K-5’s had focus peaking for manual focusing, it’s practically perfect IMO and the IIs is better yet. Glad to find another woodworker that is also a Pentaxian!

/ February 11, 2014Thanks! I can’t take any credit for the carving, except for admiring it. Yes, love my Pentax and I use a lot of M42 glass. I also still shoot quite a bit of film, and have a few different M42 camera bodies (Pentax, Yashica, Zenit). I am really impressed with the Asahi SMC Super-Macro. Even without a tripod I love the detail I was able to capture.

He is probably the best source for information on this style of carving (I was taking a class he taught). https://pfollansbee.wordpress.com/ He has number of DVDs produced by Lie-Nielsen, as well as book on the Joint Stool by Lost Art Press. His blog is a *great* resource.

/ April 10, 2015those are pretty crazy. i did a few woodworking shops past intro with my dad i think when i was in high school, and that was definitely no where near the intricacy. anyways i think this is how you asked me to contact you further. thanks for responding to my request, especially so quickly, and being cool about it. i’m super new to wordpress, like day 5, and just getting acquainted because i’m using it as the base for their website so they can minimally edit the content without me. i’ve been working furiously all week to finish this new type of iPhone sliding style template for them, hopefully by the end of the weekend. i would like to put your railroad bridge picture as the footer pic of the front page and the stone bridge pics as header on two other about us/location pages, one would have a description and link on to the yantic roll blog for people who are more interested. i can put a credit on the bottom of them in white or some other light color to contrast the back if that works for you. i’m also working on a friends/local link page and would definitely like to put a link or two there. let me know if this all sounds good to you, my email is dsamis@yahoo.com. the address again if you want to see what i’ve done so far, it’s like >50% done, is currently macdisposal.com/lazizah2/
